The ACTS Programme

A fusion of teaching and training to equip and inspire

The programme has 2 elements:
Bible Teaching and Practical Experience.

Bible Teaching:

The teaching sessions fill around 13 hours per week, and cover a range of topics which are relevant and helpful in developing students in their Christian life and ministry. From basic principles to more complex theological studies, the classes cover both practical and spiritual teaching, aimed at equipping students with all that is necessary to operate effectively as a disciple of Jesus Christ in the modern world. Most of the tutors for the Bible teaching classes work in the PWAMM Ministry in various capacities, with some guest speakers from outside of the ministry. The tutors come from different backgrounds and perspectives and with different teaching styles.

Practical Experience:

Once a week, students are given the opportunity to experience the practical service of volunteering in the day-to-day life of a Christian Ministry. Students will get involved in the different departments within PWAMM, such as the coffee shop, kitchen, maintenance, bookshop, conferences, working with the elderly, and children’s ministry. Students will have a chance to use their strengths and talents to serve alongside other Christians in their work. This practical setting also allows students who are not native speakers to develop their English language and conversation skills.

FAQ

The main Acts Discipleship Camp is a three-month long programme, but we also run shorter versions of the camp. (see below)

ACTS is a three-month camp, but if you are not able to attend for the full time, you can arrange to attend for a shorter time period.

Alternatively, we also run a shorter 5 week condensed ACTS programme. See our homepage for the next upcoming ACTS camps.

All participants of the camp must be 18 years old or over.

During the course of the camp, there are several trips which will allow you to visit different places in Scotland. There are also free days where there are no activities planned in which you can travel at your own leisure. Please be aware that the camp schedule is quite busy, so it is advised that you keep some days free just to rest.

No, you do not have to be a Christian to join ACTS. While the camp is mostly geared towards Christians, those who want to learn more about a life of following Jesus Christ can also be considered for participation.

The ACTS Camp is a recreational course designed for personal learning and development. There is no official qualification gained by completing the camp activities, however we hope that you will gain life skills and insights that will strengthen and enable you to go on in your Christian walk.

The cost of the camp was around £1100 for 3 months (as of Feb 2025, subject to change). This covers accommodation, food and any transport costs for camp activities. This does not include your travel to and from the camp or any visa costs.

The shorter camp of five weeks costs roughly £500 (as of Aug 2025, subject to change)

If you are interested in participating in the camp but are unable to due to financial limitations, please email us and we can discuss this.

As all of the teaching sessions will be in English, reasonable understanding of the English language is required. The main language spoken in the ministry is English, and while there are Korean subtitles or translation available for some topics, teaching and discussions will be held in English.

PWAMM will provide accommodation for all students near and within Perth, and any transport necessary to get to and from camp activities will be arranged for you.

If you are a non-UK citizen travelling to Scotland for the ACTS Camp, you will need a standard visitor Visa. All of the camp’s activities fall within the regulations of this visa, which includes allowance for 30 days of volunteering with a registered charity. While many countries’ citizens will automatically be given this visa on arrival, you must check if this applies to you or you need to fill out an application for this visa. All visa applications are the responsibility of the camp participants, not PWAMM.

Enquiries can be made by  emailing d.camp@pwamm.com and applications can be submitted via the application form found on the contact page of this site.
